I don't think Trump could have persuaded psychopath Putin in 2021 or early in 2022 not to invade but he most certainly would have met with the devil before February 2023 to try.
Trump's post about liking the Russian people is a negotiating tactic to help Putin save face. I don't believe for one minute that he condones this savage war or is naive about Putins' goals.
