The editor-in-chief of the Charter97.org site holds meetings in the European Parliament in Brussels.
Today Natallia Radzina has met with the deputy of the European parliament from Sweden, the representative of the largest group in the European Parliament – the European People's Party – Gunnar Hökmark.
The Charter-97 editor-in-chief told the European deputy about the situation with the blocking of the site in Belarus.
According to Radzina, a tough reaction of the EU to the blocking of the most popular independent website in Belarus and increasing pressure on the country's free media is needed today.
Radzina calls to impose a ban on entry to the European Union for the Belarusian officials responsible for blocking the site, as well as to impose economic sanctions against the Lukashenka High Technology Park.
Gunnar Hökmark expressed solidarity with Charter97.org and his willingness to help the freedom of speech in Belarus. The MEP promised that he would draw attention to the problem and explain to colleagues the need to react to the situation in Belarus adequately.
In 1989, Gunnar Hökmark actively supported the struggle of the peoples of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia for independence and has awards from these countries. Since 2015, the European MP is banned from entering Russia.
