Russian Defense Ministry orders appear at risk of disruption.
On the morning of November 17, at about 7:00 local time, an explosion occurred in Izhevsk caused by an attack by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The target of the strike was the IEMZ Kupol machine-building plant, located at 101 Lenin Street. This was reported by Russian media and local residents, Focus reports.
“The walls in the apartments shook, and the alarms went off in the cars. According to the residents, the drone attacked the Kupol electromechanical plant, which fulfills orders for the Defense Ministry,” the report says.
Alexander Brechalov of the Udmurt Republic commented on the incident. According to him, the drone fell on the factory floor, which required the evacuation of personnel.
“Unfortunately, one person was injured. He has already been hospitalized — his condition is moderate,” the official wrote on social media.
Brechalov did not specify what the enterprise does, but it is known that Kupol produces Tor anti-aircraft missile systems, radar stations and other military products for the needs of the Russian Defense Ministry. There is also information that the strike hit the 300th site, where the production of unmanned strike systems is established.
Thus, the attack on the enterprise may reduce the rate of production of military products for the Russian Armed Forces, which are actively used in Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry did not comment on the attack on Udmurtia, reporting the destruction of two drones over the Belgorod Region, as well as four unmanned boats in the Black Sea, heading towards the Crimea.
Judging by the comments of local residents, they did not like the attack on the plant located within the city limits. In Izhevsk, there has long been a dispute over the placement of military facilities among urban development.
“You should have thought about it earlier, when drones were being built right in the city center,” a local resident outraged.
