Forbes: Another 50 ATACMS Missiles Targeting Russia From Ukraine

‘A devastating season’ awaits Moscow.

Ukraine could still have 50 US-made ATACMS precision long-range missiles. Forbes writes about it.

‘There are probably not many ATACMS with a range of 190 miles left in the Ukrainian arsenal. There may well have been only two deliveries of old missiles from the 1990s, one in late 2023 and the other in March. Together, these two deliveries could have included less than 50 ATACMS,’ the material said.

The journalists also reminded that over the past year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have carried out at least eight attacks using ATACMS, most of which used more than one missile. Therefore, the first two batches of ATACMS may run out rather quickly.

‘Don't expect a real ATACMS storm now when Ukraine has been allowed to use the missiles more widely. Expect missile strikes on critical targets such as supply depots and airbases in and around Kursk in the coming weeks,’ the article said.

The authors of the material emphasised that two things can be expected in the near future:

Ukraine may run out of ATACMS, and the new Trump administration may reduce or even stop US aid to Ukraine;

at the same time, Trump will cancel the authorisation for Ukraine to use US-made weapons against targets in Russia.

This would not mean an end to Ukrainian strikes deep into Russia, as Kyiv is developing its own cruise and ballistic missiles, which it can and will use without prior authorisation.

However, the high-precision nature of ATACMS makes them, according to journalists, ‘uniquely effective,’ as demonstrated in an attack on an ammunition arsenal in Bryansk that could cut off the supply of shells to Russian and North Korean forces in Kursk region.

‘Ukraine should enjoy a short and very destructive season of ATACMS use before the missiles run out, the politics of war will change and Ukrainian troops should rely more on locally produced ammunition,’ the authors of the material concluded.

We remind you that on November 19, Ukraine struck the territory of Russia with US ATACMS missiles for the first time.
