Israeli Football Fans Got Attacked In The Netherlands

The attackers shouted pro-Palestinian slogans.

In Amsterdam (the Netherlands), unknown assailants attacked fans of the Israeli club Maccabi, which played on November 7 in the Europa League against the local Ajax. About 10 people were injured, CNN writes.

According to the Israeli Embassy in the United States, hundreds of fans of the Israeli football team "were ambushed and attacked in Amsterdam." It all happened when the guests from Israel left the stadium after the Europa League match.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar reported that 10 citizens were injured and advised Israelis in Amsterdam to stay in their hotels.

Saar also asked Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp to help transport the Israelis from their hotels to the airport. Two rescue planes were sent there on the orders of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He, by the way, has already called the incident "serious" violence.

On November 8, Benjamin Netanyahu had a telephone conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schof, the Segodnya v Izrail telegram channel writes.

The Prime Minister stressed the utmost importance of the Dutch government guaranteeing the safety of all Israelis in the Netherlands, including those affected by these events.

Netanyahu noted that he takes the planned anti-Semitic attack on Israeli citizens extremely seriously, and asked for increased security measures for the Jewish community in the Netherlands.

On Friday night, the Israeli Foreign Ministry noted that about 30 people had been detained in connection with the incident. However, their statement did not indicate who exactly had been detained. In turn, the Amsterdam police reported on the evening of November 7 that they had increased security measures in the city, and reported an incident in which someone had pulled a Palestinian flag off the façade of a building in the city.

Let us recall that on November 7, in Amsterdam, Ajax and Maccabi met in the fourth round of the Europa League. The match ended 5:0 in favor of Ajax.
