A German expert explained what happened to the crashed Embraer 190.
One of the versions of the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane in Kazakhstan, during which 38 people died and 29 were injured, was the work of Russian air defense systems. The airliner could have been shot down by mistake. Bild writes about this.
The plane, flying from Baku to Grozny, disappeared from radar after crossing the Russian border. About an hour and a half later, the significantly damaged plane appeared on the territory of Kazakhstan. During the emergency landing, it hit the ground, but almost half of the passengers survived.
The Azerbaijani authorities, friendly towards the Russian Federation, named a flock of birds as the cause of the plane's crash, which the airliner allegedly collided with, after which, presumably, an oxygen tank in the plane could have exploded.
At the same time, hundreds of small holes in the tail section are visible on video recordings and photos of the airliner. According to aviation expert Jakob Werth, the marks on the tail of the Azerbaijani plane are not simply the result of a crash.
“A lot of small holes are a strong sign of an external strike,” he explained.
When the plane from Baku to Grozny was approaching the landing, the air defense systems were actively working. Footage from the city of Shali, 20 kilometers south of Grozny, shows a Russian anti-aircraft missile shooting down a small Ukrainian drone.
One version is that the Russian military may have thought the Azerbaijani plane was another Ukrainian UAV — and fired a missile at it.
