He shot at a roe deer, but hit a relay cabinet.

A hunter has missed and instead of the game hit the relay cabinet in Cherykau district. As a result of the incident, traffic lights at the railway crossing were temporarily not working, reported the press service of the State Committee of Forensic Expertise.

The inspection revealed that the cabinet with electrical equipment was damaged by a gunshot. The operatives identified a 53-year-old man who was hunting in the forest nearby that day. The weapon that was seized from him, as well as the relay cabinet door and metal fragments were sent to experts for ballistic examination.

It was determined that the damage on the cabinet door was gunshot and ‘formed as a result of a single shot from the outside from a firearm with a cartridge that contained a single throwing projectile.

‘Four metal objects seized at the scene are elements of ammunition - part of a throwable projectile (bullet) of a cartridge for a rifled firearm of 7.62 mm calibre. The expert also found that the rifle seized from the citizen is factory-made and is a hand-held rifled firearm - a self-loading hunting carbine model ‘Tiger-308’, calibre 7.62 mm, suitable for shooting,' reported the SCFE.

The 53-year-old citizen explained that he was hunting in the forest for roe deer. He didn't even notice that he had damaged the railway equipment with his shot.

A legal assessment of the hunter's actions will be given based on the results of the inspection measures.
