Explosion Occurs At Bosch Facility In Germany

Two men were killed.

On January 21, there was an explosion in the German city of Reutlingen on the territory of the Bosch company, as a result of which two men were killed, and one more was injured. This is reported by Bild.

According to the police, a 52-year-old man died on the spot, and his 44-year-old colleague died in hospital. Both were employees of an outside company.

It is noted that the cause of the explosion was a leak of silane from a gas cylinder, which was used for calibration.

The warning systems went off, but while the cause of the leak was being investigated, the gas reacted with the air, leading to the explosion. The two fatalities were close to the scene of the accident, while another worker was injured by the blast.

Bild writes that at first investigators assumed that the incident occurred while replacing the cylinder, but this version was not confirmed. The investigation continues. The police emphasised that there is no threat to the public and no property damage has been recorded.

The Bosch Mobile Electronics Division headquarters in Reutlingen develops and manufactures semiconductors, sensors and control devices.
