He also did not want to get rid of the stick of sausage he had with him.

While Ukrainian defenders were taking a North Korean soldier captive, he did not want to give away the stick of sausage he had with him, and he also asked to turn on films about love. This was told by soldiers of the 95th separate airborne assault Polesskaya brigade.

They managed to capture the foreign soldier after the Russian troops, who were storming the Ukrainian positions from morning till evening, retreated.

The UAV operator informed his fellow soldiers that there was some movement in one of the trenches. They first thought it was a Ukrainian fighter as he had a green pipe scarf on his head, but later realised it was a DPRK soldier:

‘He had a grenade and a knife on his armour. I was telling him to drop it all. And there was also something red in the pouches. We thought maybe it was a homemade lighter. He pulls it out, and it's a sausage. He shows us it's food and he won't drop it. Well, we left it to him,' the Ukrainians said.

The DPRK serviceman had wounds in the jaw and arm, but someone rendered him assistance. The prisoner was taken to the evacuation point and at the last moment he speeded up and hit his head with all his might into a concrete pillar by the roadside. One of the defenders believes that he either wanted to hurt himself to avoid surrendering or to deceive the Ukrainian fighters:

‘Later our brothers-in-arms said that he was well received. They provided him with medical assistance, fed him. He also asked for some love films to be shown to him,' the Ukrainian fighters said.
