The planning for the visit is still ongoing.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may visit the White House early next week, thus becoming the first foreign leader to meet with US President Donald Trump after his inauguration.
This is reported by CNN.
At the same time, it is noted that planning for the visit is still ongoing and no date has been officially set. Officials from the US and Israel have called the plans for the visit preliminary.
According to CNN, the two leaders discussed Netanyahu's visit to Washington during a phone conversation that took place a few days before the inauguration last week. In addition, Trump's Middle East ambassador, Steve Whitkoff, has been travelling around the region this week, notably visiting Israel, where details of the visit were likely finalised. A spokesman for Netanyahu said on social media that there was no official invitation for the visit.
