Hackers Gain Access To Database Of Notorious Chinese AI Within Minutes

User queries, secret keys and passwords ended up in the public domain.

The database of the Chinese DeepSeek chatbot, which among other things stored logs of user requests, secret keys and passwords, has found itself in the public domain.

This was reported by the American cybersecurity company of Wiz. The ‘Cold’ magazine has drawn attention to the publication.

It said that the ClickHouse database associated with Chinese AI was found in open access. The company claims that using the discovered files, Wiz specialists gained full control over the database.

‘This database contained a significant amount of chat history, internal data and sensitive information, including log streams, sensitive APIs and operational data,’ Wiz said.

The company noted that it took its employees only a few minutes to discover this vulnerability. At the same time, the company was prompted to check the reliability of DeepSeek's data storage by the Chinese chatbot's success in the field of artificial intelligence. Wiz said in a statement that after discovering the vulnerability, its experts informed DeepSeeker about it and soon the access to the database was closed.

Wiz specialises in detecting vulnerabilities and security risks in the operation of various cloud services. It has been operating in the cybersecurity market since 2020.

The launch of the Chinese DeepSeek neural network, which took place a few days ago, led to a record collapse in the shares of Western technology companies, including Nvidia, whose capitalisation fell by hundreds of billions of dollars.

Experts explained this by saying that the Chinese chatbot outperforms all of its Western counterparts, including ChatGPT, while the development of DeepSeek took a lot less money than that of its competitors.
