Video fact.
The Ukrainian Defence Forces artillery has made a pinpoint strike against the fortification of Russian troops in the occupied part of Kherson region. The attack was carried out using a high-precision 155 mm M712 Copperhead guided projectile, which literally wiped out the concrete fortification of the enemy. The video of the combat operation was published on 29 January by serviceman Stanislav Bunyatov with the call sign ‘Osman’.
The WarArchive project specified that the attacked object was located in the settlement of Gola Prystan. Judging by the footage, the fortification was completely destroyed.
With regard to this episode, Militarny observers added that earlier the Ukrainian Skyeton company presented an updated version of the ACS-3 Raybird drone with a laser target designation system for guiding corrective munitions. The published footage of the attack in Kherson region shows a similar guidance interface, which suggests the use of Raybird for spotlighting the target.
Briefly About M712 Copperhead
The M712 Copperhead is a 155mm corrected artillery shell developed in the US in the 1970s. It is designed for high-precision destruction of laser-beam guided targets.
M712 main characteristics:
Type of warhead: fragmentation-fuzed or shaped charge.
Firing range: from 3 to 16 kilometres.
Compatibility: standard 155-mm howitzers.
We remind you that in November 2024, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces used the M712 Copperhead during the Kursk operation, attacking a metal support with installed enemy communication antennas. The projectile was guided by a LEONARDO Type 163 laser designator.
During that operation, a second round was fired, causing damage to the structure, but the final destruction did not occur due to the nature of the shaped-charge warhead.
