Israeli Hostage Agam Berger Released In Gaza Strip

The Israeli army soldier was handed over to representatives of the Red Cross.
Representatives of the Palestinian group Hamas handed over Israeli army soldier Agam Berger, who was taken hostage on 7 October 2023, to representatives of the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip on Thursday. This was confirmed by the Israel Defence Forces. Subsequently, they said that Berger had already been taken to the territory of Israel, Radio Svaboda reports.
It is expected that Hamas will release two more hostages today, Arbel Yagud and Gadi Moses. They are civilians. In addition, five Thai nationals, also captured in the 7 October attack on Israel, are expected to be released.
Israel will release 110 Palestinian prisoners from jails. This is the third such exchange since the temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was launched on 17 January. Earlier, 7 Israeli hostages were released.
According to the latest figures, 89 of those kidnapped during the jihadist attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023 remain in Gaza. Several dozen of them are presumed dead.
Thirty-three people were on the list of hostages to be released by Hamas in the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Israel responds by releasing a total of about two thousand Palestinians from its prisons.
About 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage in the 7 October attack against Israel. During the ensuing military campaign, according to the Palestinian side, about 47 thousand inhabitants of the sector were killed, the losses of the Israeli army amounted to several hundred people.
