On January 7, the bright holiday of the Nativity of Christ according to the Julian calendar is celebrated by believers of the Orthodox rite in a number of churches, including the Orthodox Church in Belarus.

Christmas is celebrated with a rich festive table. The food is usually prepared lean, as people sit down at the festive table on Christmas Eve, when the Christmas fast continues.
In ancient times it was customary to put up a Christmas tree on Christmas Day, not on New Year's Day. Also gifts were given precisely for Christmas. The main dish on Christmas Day was kutya.
