Russian Soldiers To Be Provided With Icons, Body Crosses With Putin's Initials

Putin has asked Patriarch Kirill to consecrate them.

Soldiers of the Russian occupation army, as well as their commanders, will be given body crosses with the initials of Russian President Vladimir Putin to wear during military operations in Ukraine. This was reported by the Russian propaganda publication of Interfax.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin had asked Patriarch Kirill to consecrate the crosses and icons to be given to the Russian military. In particular, they will be given to commanders of troop groups that perform ‘especially important tasks’ in Ukraine.

‘I think our comrades will be honoured to receive these symbols of faith consecrated by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia during the festive service on Christmas night,’ Peskov quoted Putin as saying.

The Russian president's spokesman also stressed that Putin's initials were engraved on some links of the chains to the crosses at the request of the Russian dictator.

Patriarch Kirill consecrated the crosses and icons in Putin's presence.

‘I think this will be especially clear and pleasant for all the soldiers who will receive these images,’ Kirill noted.
