‘The Losses Were Insane’

Roman Svitan explained why the North Koreans disappeared from the front.

The American publication The New York Times writes that Kim Jong-un was shocked by the losses of the North Koreans in battles with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It was the DPRK dictator who withdrew troops from the front lines in the Kursk region.

How true is this? Charter97.org asked military expert, reserve colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Roman Svitan for a comment:

— I'll start with the fact that the decision to withdraw the corps (more than 10 thousand North Koreans) was made by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. If we talk about what tasks, there could have been several. The first is the withdrawal of the corps for additional staffing and “additional training”. After all, the losses were insane, no matter how crazy the North Koreans were, but in literally 1.5 months they lost a third of the corps!

The question is what will happen after the additional staffing. There is a possibility that they will be reinforced twice as much and sent back, but there is still a possibility (50/50) that the North Koreans will simply not appear on the front line anymore.

Not only because of losses, but also because of pressure from some international security agencies. Donald Trump has such an opportunity through Xi Jinping, even directly through Putin. Some negotiations are currently underway. In general, Trumpists have contacts with Putinoids, and they can put pressure.

— What could Kim Jong-un be scared of?

— “Scared” is still a more psychological concept. From a military point of view, firstly, he realized that his army was not ready to fight in combat conditions.

Secondly, he realized that the training that his army has is not enough to conduct large-scale military operations. Therefore, he was not afraid, but definitely took this into account.

What conclusions he will draw from this, what actions he will take — here a lot depends on the geopolitical situation, which is now changing almost every day.
