US Senator Mark Kelly: Elon Musk Is Obviously Not Serious Guy

The Democratic politician also accused Trump of weakening Ukraine's defence.

Democratic US Senator Mark Kelly, who has recently visited Ukraine, says that the Trump administration's suspension of intelligence sharing has weakened Kyiv's defence against Russian Federation. He also rejected the words of Elon Musk, who called him a ‘traitor’.

When the senator was asked if he heard of specific attacks or incidents during his visit that could have been influenced if the Ukrainians had intelligence, he said, ‘One hundred per cent’.

‘If there are things they're not getting that they need, it changes their ability to defend themselves against attacks. And those attacks happened on Friday night, Saturday night, when I was there’, he told reporters.

Reuters reminds that Kelly, a member of the Armed Services Committee, was in Ukraine from Saturday to Sunday to express support for the people of our country and to assess the situation.

Also responding to a question about Elon Musk, the senator said the billionaire is ‘obviously ... not a serious guy.’

Musk, in turn, wrote in a comment on Kelly's post with a photo from Ukraine that the latter is a ‘traitor’. The official responded with the following:

‘Traitor? Elon, if you don't understand that defending freedom is the core principle that makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do,’ he wrote.

Reuters specifies that this was Kelly's third visit to Ukraine since 2023.
