Various options are on the table.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks with the USA in Saudi Arabia, Andriy Yermak, has said that US partners treat with understanding the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine, but negotiations on this issue are still ongoing.
He said this during a dialogue with the press after talks with the US delegation in the Saudi city of Jeddah, the European Truth reported.
The head of the Ukrainian Presidential Administration noted that during the talks with the Americans, various options were considered, and ‘various options are on the table’.
‘Since these consultations, these negotiations are still ongoing, I would not like to talk about any specific ones today ... But these definitely (should be) the guarantees that will a hundred per cent prevent any aggression in the future,’ Yermak said.
He noted that Ukraine has a bad experience of ‘all the Budapest memorandums, the Minsk agreements, which unfortunately did not give us any guarantees, and this full-scale aggression happened.’
‘That is why, having this experience, realising that it should not just be on paper, it should work ... Yet today we're in the middle of a process. And, as I said, we are considering different options, with the participation of different countries. Certainly - with the help of our European partners, the United States,’ the head of the Presidential Office said.
Yermak added that Ukraine realises clearly what security guarantees it needs, and ‘our American partners understand this’.
‘They have an understanding of this issue, but these conversations continue. Today we have made the first step, a very important one. And there is a lot of work ahead,' the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Administration noted.
Yermak also said that the discussion of details on the ceasefire will begin next week.
We remind you that following the meeting in the Saudi city of Jeddah on 11 March, Ukraine agreed to introduce a 30-day ceasefire immediately if Russia also takes such a step.
