CIA Director: Ukrainians Will Fight With Even Bare Hands If Peace Terms Don’t Suit Them

Do not underestimate the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Ukrainian army continues to be underestimated worldwide. Ukrainian soldiers will fight even with bare hands if the terms of peace with Russia do not suit them.

According to RBC-Ukraine, CIA Director John Ratcliffe made this statement during a hearing in the U.S. Senate.

Senator Jerry Moran asked Ratcliffe about the risks for the U.S. if Russia achieves its maximalist goals in a peace agreement with Ukraine.

In response, the CIA Director stated that U.S. President Donald Trump currently wants to end the war under conditions that would lead to lasting peace. The CIA, in turn, has taken measures to support this goal.

Ratcliffe acknowledged that Russia has an advantage on the battlefield and is making slow progress.

"But as for Ukrainian resistance, the Ukrainian people and army have been underestimated for several years. I am confident, based on my intelligence observations, that they will fight with bare hands if they have to, if they do not have acceptable conditions for a lasting peace," he added.

At the same time, Ratcliffe assured that Trump understands the dangers if Russia gets what it wants. And if the "negotiations are successful," neither side will achieve its maximalist goals.
