Key takeaways from the summit.

Following the conclusion of the Coalition of the Willing summit, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky gave a brief press conference, BBC reports.

Starmer highlighted three main outcomes of the summit.

"First, strong support for Ukraine to ensure it is in the strongest possible position... Second, absolute clarity that now is not the time to lift sanctions—quite the opposite," he stated (Reuters quote).

After this, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the British Prime Minister and France for their support, reiterating that no sanctions should be lifted until Russia ends the war.

Outgoing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, following Starmer, stated at the summit in Paris that lifting sanctions against Russia at this time would be a "serious mistake."

According to him, "there is no point in lifting sanctions until peace is achieved."

"Unfortunately, we are still far from that," Scholz added.

French President Emmanuel Macron, summarizing the results of the Coalition of the Willing summit, said that the participants agreed to continue supporting Ukraine and its army, adding that it is still not the right time to lift sanctions against Russia. He also pledged to maintain pressure on Russia and its shadow fleet of tankers.

Additionally, according to the French President, the summit participants decided to task the coalition's foreign ministers with preparing proposals within three weeks on how a ceasefire in Ukraine could be monitored.

Macron also announced that a Franco-British military delegation would be sent to Ukraine to work with the Ukrainian Armed Forces "to plan their future."

Speaking about potential peacekeeping forces, Macron said that they are still in the formation stage. The French President reaffirmed that they would not be stationed on the front lines but would serve as a "deterrent" mechanism after a truce is reached.
