The evaders were taken straight out of a Moscow fitness club.
In Moscow, riot police and military officers have stormed the Spirit Fitness club in the Mariel shopping centre in Lublinskaya Street, MSK1.ru reported the day before. According to the publication, they conducted a mass check of visitors. Among other things, they were checking ‘information about military duty’ - they were looking for evaders.
Judging by the video provided by one of the visitors, all the trainees, including girls, were put ‘face down on the floor’. After that, the client of the fitness club says, the people were grouped together according to their ethnic origin (‘Russian / non-Russian’) and men's passports were checked. According to Baza, they were taken two by two to the locker room to get documents, and then - to the staff of the military enlistment office. The guys who had their military registration marks in order were released. Those who did not have documents with them were given a summons, one of the club's clients told the channel (later Baza wrote that they were ‘taken away for inspection’).
The Spirit Fitness club did not make a comment on the raid, and the company's employees said that such activities of law enforcers happen everywhere. ‘My situation with the military enlistment office is fine, they let me go. But those guys who were evading the military enlistment office and were without passports got into trouble,’ one of the visitors told MSK1.ru. ‘Get Lost’ writes, citing eyewitnesses, that the military enlistment office representative had with him a ‘thick folder’ with summonses prepared for handing out.
Also Baza reported in the news update about the raid that the incident may have occurred last Friday while checking the documents of migrants and determining the legality of their stay in the Russian Federation. According to the channel, employees of the military enlistment office were allegedly not involved in the raid.
