Lithuania will auction off trucks and fire trucks imported from Belarus that were confiscated due to sanctions evasion.
This was announced to journalists on Monday, March 31, by the country's Prosecutor General Nida Grunskienė, as quoted by the Lithuanian broadcaster LRT.
Grunskienė said that the decision to sell 17 milk tankers and 17 fire trucks had already been made, and “this decision is final”.
“We hope that someone will buy these vehicles and give them to Ukraine. I think Ukraine really needs them,” she added.
As the broadcaster recalled, 17 milk tankers were destined for Cuba, and 17 fire trucks were supposed to go to Zimbabwe. The vehicles were seized in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipeda in 2023.
