The Nordic-Baltic Eight Countries Announce New Support Packages For Ukraine

It has been revealed how much military assistance will increase.

Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov participated in a meeting of the Nordic-Baltic 8 (NB8), where the Baltic and Northern European countries presented new initiatives to support Ukraine. Notably, they announced an increase in military aid.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the official Facebook page of Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

Rustem Umerov attended the Nordic-Baltic 8 meeting, where defense ministers from Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania introduced new initiatives to support Ukraine in its war against Russia.

Sweden, in particular, announced the preparation of a new large military aid package, which will include strengthening Ukraine's air defense. The delivery of this equipment is planned for this year.

Norway also made a significant announcement, allocating 7.8 billion euros for 2025, one of the largest aid budgets for Ukraine among European countries. These funds will be directed towards enhancing maritime capabilities, air defense systems, and the training of Ukrainian military personnel within the "Nordic-Baltic Brigade." Additional investments in Ukraine's defense industry are also planned.

Increase in Military Assistance

Lithuania is actively working to strengthen Ukraine's air defense system and invest in the defense industry, while maintaining priority on the supply of artillery shells.

Latvia is focused on providing the necessary equipment to Ukrainian Armed Forces units and developing cooperation in the defense industry. Iceland is participating in investments in Ukraine's defense industry within the "Danish model."

Finland is working on the supply of artillery shells and preparing a new military aid package, while Estonia is preparing new supplies of shells and is ready to join the training of the "Nordic-Baltic Brigade." Denmark, in turn, is considering additional investments in Ukraine's defense industry.

"Northern and Baltic countries remain some of our most devoted allies. They not only increase military assistance but also actively support the development of our defense industry," emphasized Rustem Umerov, praising the crucial role these countries play in Ukraine's fight for its independence.

Nordic-Baltic 8

This informal group brings together eight countries: five Nordic (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland) and three Baltic (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania). The group was created to promote cooperation and exchange of experience in various fields, such as security, economy, culture, and energy.

It is also focused on supporting democracy, stability, and development in the region. At regular meetings of defense ministers, foreign ministers, and other government representatives from NB8 countries, current security and cooperation issues are discussed, including support for Ukraine amid the war with Russia.
