French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot called the meetings held in Paris on Thursday, 17 April, a diplomatic success for France.
This is reported by the EP.
After the talks in Paris with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, Britain, France, Germany and the United States, the Minister said that this meeting is a ‘diplomatic success’ of France.
‘This is a diplomatic success for France because for the first time Americans, Ukrainians and Europeans sat at the same table,’ Barrot said.
According to the foreign minister, the meetings were very important because ‘it is about moving towards our common goal: peace.’
‘And for this to happen, we must continue dialogue. The Americans seek to end this war,’ the minister said, adding that the Americans are ‘listening’ and want a ceasefire.
Earlier, Umerov reported on the first meeting in Paris - with representatives of ‘coalition of the willing’ countries.
It was attended, he said, by French President National Security Adviser Emmanuel Bonne, British Prime Minister's adviser Jonathan Powell and German Chancellor's adviser Jens Pletner.
On 17 April, French President Emmanuel Macron received US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, followed by a working lunch at the Elysee Palace.
