Ukrainian colonel explained the reason.
Occupiers Fear Drone Strikes
In the Kursk, Belgorod, Bryansk, and Lipetsk regions of the aggressor country Russia, parades for May 9 are being canceled. This year, the reason is not only the occupiers’ fear of potential attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
As retired Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel, flight instructor, and military expert Roman Svitan told Channel 24, another reason for the absence of parades in some Russian cities is the operational pause of the occupiers.
The fact is that all the old military equipment, which previously participated in parades, is now deployed on the front lines in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the occupiers are preparing new equipment for summer military operations.
Thus, the Russians practically have nothing left to organize these parades with. Moreover, even if some armored vehicles are found, they could be targeted by Ukrainian drones.
Therefore, as Svitan noted, the Kremlin will most likely focus solely on the parade in Moscow, while the regions will be left without major events.
"Running around with a red flag across any square is, for them, a kind of 'victory.' I think all attention will be concentrated on the parade in Moscow. We should also 'take part' in it," he emphasized.
