Support for U.S. President Donald Trump as he approaches 100 days into his second term is already lower than for all of his predecessors over the past 70 years.

This is reported by CNN based on polling data commissioned by SSRS.

The poll found that 41 Americans polled currently approve of Trump's policies - the lowest level for any of the newly elected presidents at the edge of their 100-day terms since at least Dwight Eisenhower. Trump's performance now is also worse than the performance after the 100 days of his first term.

Support for Trump's policies has dropped 4 percentage points since March and 7 percentage points since February.

Only 22% of respondents expressed strong support for Trump's performance as president. 45% said they strongly disapprove of it.

According to respondents' partisan leanings, support for Trump remains polarized - 86% of Republicans approve of his actions, while 93% of Democrats disapprove. Among "independents," support for Trump has dropped to 31%.

The poll found that support for Trump's performance is declining across all policy areas. On the issue of inflation, it is down nine points since March to 35%; on tariffs, it is down four points to 35%; 39% have a favorable view of his steps on the economy, down five points from March.

Support for steps to run the federal government is down six points to 42%. Only 46% believe Trump will appoint top talent to positions, down eight points from a pile.

Fewer than 43% believe the "turbo reforms" at government agencies initiated by Trump and his team are a necessary step, while 57% said they see the approach as unnecessary risks to the country.

39% said they support Trump's foreign policy, while 60% disapprove.

50% of respondents said they have some level of confidence that Trump is capable of handling foreign policy challenges properly. Before the start of his second term, that was 55%.

On the issue of immigration policy, 45% said they supported Trump, down six points from March.
