Russians Shoot Belarusian Who Refused To Take Part In ‘Meat Assault’

Pavel Hlukhau was recruited into the occupation army from a colony.

Pavel Hlukhau, a native of Belarus, was shot for refusing to join the ‘meat assault’ in the Russian army, probably in Donetsk region of Ukraine, the Ukrainian project ‘I Want to Live’ told ‘Radio Svaboda’.

According to the project, Pavel Hlukhau was born on 8 June 1985 in Belarus, in the village of Zviazda (there is such a settlement in several districts of Belarus. - note). He signed a contract to serve in military unit 95378 of regiment 1437, some units of which are made up of prisoners recruited from Russian jails and colonies.

According to the Ukrainian project, before being recruited, Pavel Hlukhau was serving a sentence for murder in penal colony No. 7 in Udmurtia: he was convicted under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code. It is not known exactly what citizenship he had at the time of signing the contract.

Regiment 1437 of the Russian army is known for using its soldiers in so-called meat assaults to break through Ukrainian positions. They do not have the appropriate military equipment and often go into battle unprepared, and when they try to retreat to their previous positions, they are shot by their own servicemen.
